Surreal Night of Museums at Uralkhimmash

Night of Museums in the operating workshop of the machine-building plant

Description

One of the most eccentric venues of the Night of Museums 2021 was Uralkhimmash in Yekaterinburg. The plastic performance “Dali’s muse” was played against the background of heavy engineering mills. The operating workshop of the plant turned into an exclusive art platform for several hours. The guests were able to see the art of Salvador Dali and his complex, beautiful relationship with his wife and muse Elena Dyakonova, known under the pseudonym Gala. Literally, in three days, a real stage and a giant tribune for 760 seats was erected in one of the workshops, going up to the very roof. The performance, the main audience of which were factory workers and invited guests, was sold out. More than 200 people worked to bring the idea to life: actors, video and sound engineers, lighting designers, installers, industrial climbers, event specialists, Gazprombank representatives, and Uralkhimmash employees. Choreography, music, light and video projections of the paintings were combined in the operating workshop of the Uralkhimmash plant. Episodes from the life of the great master of surrealism swept in front of the audience in an emotional dance. Some scenes made the audience worry, others smiled, because the performance contains not only drama but also the irony inherent in the Spanish master.
